Homewood at Frederick—Now a Continuing Care Retirement Community

We are proud to announce that Homewood at Frederick has received certification by the Maryland Department of Aging as a fully licensed continuing care retirement community, also known as CCRC. According to the Department’s website, a CCRC offers “a secure and protected environment for seniors, with access to medical and nursing services, should the need arise. A CCRC is often a large campus that includes separate housing for those who live independently, assisted living facilities that offer more support and nursing home care for those who need more complex care and assistance. Residents can move from one housing choice to another as their needs change.”

What does this change mean for future Homewood residents? As a CCRC, Homewood now offers both entrance fee and monthly fee plans. Both entrance fee and monthly fee offer the resident continuing care during their time at Homewood. Entrance fees apply to all new construction patio homes, while all existing patio homes, cottages, and apartments at both the Lodge and Crumland Farms have the option of a monthly fee or entrance fee plan. The entrance fee is among the lowest in the region, at $20,000, and is 100% fully refundable. Monthly fees are still required for all residents, although those who have paid the entrance fee will have a reduced monthly fee.

Why are people looking for and choosing to live in CCRCs? Many of our current residents have decided to make Homewood their choice for these common reasons: they want to be near family and avoid being a burden on their children; they want to make their own decision about where their future care needs will be met; they have considered the options and realize that Homewood allows them to manage their investment, without the obligation of paying a large up front entrance fee. Most importantly, residents of Homewood at Frederick enjoy the physical, mental and spiritual security that our CCRC provides, knowing that they have the assurance of receiving increased levels of care should they need it. Here, they know they will continue to live in a comfortable, familiar setting for as long as they need.

Homewood at Frederick has proudly and successfully served the Frederick area for nearly 37 years, and remains dedicated to offering outstanding services to those who make our community home. To learn more about our new CCRC designation, we encourage you to contact the Frederick marketing office directly, and staff will be happy to speak with you.
