Meet Brittany Brown: Homewood's Move-In Coordinator

Brittany BrownMoving is a major life event that can be overwhelming to anyone. To ease the transition during the moving process, the marketing department at Homewood Frederick has a wonderful resource available to all incoming residents: our very own move-in coordinator, Brittany Brown. Since joining the marketing department in early March, Brittany has successfully managed the move-ins of 130 new residents to the Lodge and patio homes on the Willow Ponds campus. She provides guidance, compassion and structure to each resident before, during and after their move to Homewood.

Although Brittany is new to the marketing staff, she has been a loyal Homewood employee for nine years. “I’ve been around Homewood since we were in downtown Frederick, where my mom worked as a nurse. I’ve grown up here!” As an elementary school student, Brittany visited Homewood residents with her Girl Scout troop. In middle school, when Homewood moved to Crumland Farms, Brittany started volunteering with residents in the beauty shop and assisting the receptionists, which she continued through high school.

After studying at Messiah College, Brittany became a licensed GNA (geriatric nursing assistant) and followed that with a CMA (certified medicine assistant) license. She began working at Homewood in 2007 as part of the nursing staff, caring for residents in the Meadows Court and Willows. Explaining her transition to marketing, Brittany says, “nursing was a good learning tool that prepared me for working with all types of people. Believe it or not, I was a very shy person when I first started working here. Very quiet. This job has really allowed me to grow and has given me a chance to interact with many people. It’s fun and I get to use my strengths, such as organizing and working with details. I love the paperwork and schedules!”

As a move-in coordinator, Brittany begins working with residents before they are even on campus. Among her many responsibilities, she coordinates the distribution and collection of paperwork that is required for each new resident; manages the calendar by scheduling all moves; coordinates with staff to ensure each residence is move-in ready; prepares a welcome gift; inspects each unit prior to move-in; meets and greets the resident on move-in day and delivers a complimentary lunch to them and their family. Following move-in, Brittany makes sure that each new resident is aware of policies and procedures and is getting acclimated to their new home by visiting them during the first week as they get settled in. As new Lodge resident Lamont Thomas states, “Brittany brings enthusiasm and personality to her job. She works hard and doesn’t mind roughing it when the going gets tough. She is a ‘pioneer woman’.” For those who are getting ready to move to Homewood this fall or in the future, rest assured that you will be in great hands with Brittany. She is always available to answer your questions and to help make your move go as smoothly and stress-free as possible.
